London, 12 March 2026 — H.E. Nickson Deng Peter, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom, held a productive bilateral meeting with Ms. Kate Foster, Director for Africa at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The leaders discussed key areas of mutual interest aimed at strengthening the partnership between the two nations. A significant portion of the dialogue focused on recent security developments in Akobo. H.E. Nickson Deng Peter provided updates on the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) operations and addressed concerns regarding the impact on the local civilian population.

The Ambassador reassured the FCDO of the government’s commitment to civilian safety, highlighting the recent SSPDF announcement facilitating the safe return of UNMISS, NGOs, and displaced residents to Akobo.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to supporting affected communities through coordinated humanitarian efforts.
